Wrap-Up

You’ve just had an introduction to the lives of our illustrious ancestors. We’re about to look at each of them more personally. By now, you’ve got the main idea of covenant in place and you’ve got some perspective on what kind of a world in which the patriarchs lived—and the world out of which they were called.

If we’re going to get acquainted with these distant spiritual relatives as early disciples—sometimes faith-full, sometimes faith-less—then this bit of culture shock was necessary. You’ll probably have a little more respect for them when they do the right thing and a little more empathy for them when they don’t.

The more we learn, the more we’ll realize that their journey of faith isn’t very different than our own.
