When we crossed from Genesis 11-12, the macro lens of global focus shifted to the micro lens of family focus. We joined our ancestors on a pilgrimage of faith, carrying divine promises. But, we now wonder, what will happen to these promises of land, descendants, royalty and blessings?

These questions will drive us into the rest of the story beyond Genesis. But before we leave, let’s make sure to connect what we’ve learned about the God of creation and the God of the covenant. Let’s remember that the shift in focus from the world to a family is not a shift in interest. If we don’t read Genesis correctly, we’ll end up with a “Jewish Old Testament” and a “global New Testament.” Let’s do one final review to make sure we haven’t forgotten anything we’ll need for the journey ahead.
