Wrap-Up

This lesson certainly got us past thinking of prophets merely as predictors of the future. They were totally engaged in their contemporary settings and spoke directly into them. Now you know why we keep a timeline handy when we study each prophet. We also discovered how much the prophets were grounded in the Torah even as they envisioned an amazing future. 

And maybe you’re a little surprised to find so much in these books about the gentile nations. This has been a big reminder that the basic idea of a covenant was in play for everyone since Adam and Eve. That’s worth holding onto as we begin preparing for God’s grace-filled new covenant.
