In the decades to come, Babylon also will fall. For now, God’s people will remain in a foreign place and God is with them. And for this reason, God will not destroy Babylon right now. Ezekiel is encouraging the people to feel at home with their God in Babylon for the moment. Prophesying the destruction of this place is not the message the people need to hear at this point in history.
