Have you gotten used to the mix of judgment and hope in the prophets yet? Maybe their words of judgment seem harsh and rigid. But then their promises are filled with so much mercy and grace. They go right to where suffering and shame is unbearable and hopeless, and they announce these messages of hope right there. 

Sometimes, you don’t know how good the good news of the gospel is until you know how bad the bad news is. That makes Ezekiel a great Old Testament book for understanding the gospel.
