Forward Thinking

In the future you may marry and have children. If you do, you should attempt to leave a material inheritance to your children. “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children” (Proverbs 13:22). The inheritance should not be dispensed until the child has been thoroughly trained to be a wise steward. “An inheritance gained hurriedly at the beginning will not be blessed in the end” (Proverbs 20:21).

In my opinion you should make provision in your will for distributing an inheritance over several years or after the heir is mature enough to handle the responsibility of money. Select those you trust to supervise the youth until they are capable stewards.

“Now I say, as long as the heir is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave although he is owner of everything, but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by the father” (Galatians 4:1-2).
