Christian Learning Center Forums Are you currently involved in any type of sports ministry? If so, how do you see yourself implementing any of the four key success principles described by Colin Pinkney (Preparation, Engagement, Persistence, Patience)? How could you improve your implementation of any of these? (If you are not currently involved in sports ministry, how do you envision yourself implementing one of these principles in your future ministry?)

I coach soccer at my churches soccer camp and league. I also go to local sports events for high school and middle school. Where I connect with players and their families and if allowed do prayer times with the teams. I want to be able to do more to be on team where I focus on ministering to them daily at practices and games.

I just started getting involved with FCA. I loved this first lecture because it reminded me to focus on being available when they need it and to truly understand their culture and needs. I don’t want to assume needs. I also like the idea of being available year round.

I’m currently not in a sports ministry, but would like to get involved. I’m also interested in a mentor in the field for advice and guidance.

I am a Trauma-Informed and Integrative Somatic Yoga Therapist. I have a yoga school with 1 faculty staff as well as myself where we offer a variety of Yoga Teacher Trainings, and I offer 1:1 package sessions for inner/outer healing to my clients. I have the opportunity to hold space for every person that comes to my sessions, views my online resources etc to utilize the 4 success principles outlined. I take great time, thought and prayer in my preparation that the people who are in the right space and drawn to working with me have been led by Jesus for that divine time. I offer continued Engagement and Persistence in the follow up with each person as their characteristic and personality and openness to Jesus allows itself. Finaly, I offer Patience to all, and prayer for all to come to their own time and space organically with Jesus and support their journey as a unique and divine encounter that needs to be nourished and continually fed to grow.

Christian Learning Center Forums Do you currently, or do you think you might, struggle with any of the four success principles (Preparation, Engagement, Persistence, Patience)? For example, do you find it difficult to be patient or find it frustrating when you don’t have the access you would like to have? How might you overcome this?

Patience because I want access for all teams so I can talk about Jesus and pray. I turned to God in prayer and he has opened up doors for me to still be to be present and pray for teams at the games!

I feel like God has really put a fire in my heart to serve. I think the area that will need the most prayer/focused would be patient. I get so excited that I might want to go all in right away. That might not be their timeline. I will trust God’s timeline.

I don’t think I would struggle, however patients is always a challenge but something I can do. By staying focused and understanding what my purpose is I can overcome this.

I can see myself struggling with having patience. Awaiting opportunities to minister is difficult for me. I like to continuously utilize my gifts, talents, and abilities. Thus, I often have multiple irons in the fire and sometimes struggle with preparation (priorities)too. These are areas that I need to develop further.

This is the 5th season I am serving as a Sports Chaplain in a basketball club. One of the principles I want to grow in is the Preparation. After 5 years of serving as a Chaplain and after 14 years of working with youth one might think he knows everything but there’s always more to learn. That’s why I’m here.

The principle I am struggling with is the Persistence. Often when I hit some obsticles I am tempted to quit.
