Wrap-Up

Maybe you’ve been surprised at how common it is to dispute with God. We saw it in the lament psalms. And other individuals like Job and Habbakuk called God to account for His justice. And Malachi lets us know that the whole nation was questioning His love and justice during the Restoration. 

We’ve learned by now that God makes room for honest questions—but He also doesn’t remain silent!! Malachi gives us a divine perspective on who’s really falling short.

If we were hoping that the last prophet would stick to future predictions, we’ve missed something important in this third course. Prophets always frame words of hope in the context of a covenant relationship. And Malachi ends by looking toward John the Baptist who will usher in the messianic era with a time of repentance. 

We hope you’ll join us to study the four gospels. Everything we’ve been learning in the Old Testament has prepared us to understand what Jesus will say and do. When you open the Gospels, we want you to recognize Jesus as your Messiah.

But before we finish this course we wanted you to understand better how this part of the Bible took shape.
