Although the book of Joshua exposed some of Israel’s weaknesses, it was generally an optimistic book with lots of victories and a sense that God’s land-promise was coming true after all this time. But now we’re going to watch the tribes struggle to occupy the land they were allotted. They will gain some ground and lose some ground. By the end of the book of Judges you may wonder why God chose His people or their leaders.
