Isaiah and Micah: Assyrian Crisis

With God’s promises to David and Jerusalem, some believe the southern kingdom is invincible. But the Assyrian crisis is going to impact Judah in dramatic ways. They barely survive the invasion of the North and only by becoming vassals to the brutal Assyrian empire. How will Judah’s kings lead during this crisis? Will they compromise under pressure or stand in faith and fidelity to YHWH?

You’ll have a chance to feel the anxiety of our ancestors who faced the prospect of distinction—and who witnessed a miraculous deliverance by God’s mercy. But you’ll also see how persistent failures would lead to judgment. Although it was postponed, you’ll see why judgment was inevitable. And then . . . you’ll hear words of hope once again.

Let’s spend most of our time in this module listening carefully to one of the greatest prophets in the whole Bible.
