From the elite-level celebrity athlete to the high school baseball player to the fan who watches every game, the culture and world of sports is vast. It cannot be denied that the influence of sport is far-reaching, and with that comes a tremendous opportunity to impact the kingdom of God. In this course, you’ll learn what sports ministry is (and is not) and identify key areas for impact. You’ll also explore how to consider the wide range of cultures, backgrounds, beliefs, and knowledge present in sport so you can more effectively minister to those you serve.
- Define sports ministry in a practical way and identify opportunities for impact and principles for success.
- Develop an understanding of the great kingdom opportunities that lie within the realm of sports ministry.
- Identify practical ways to develop a servant’s heart in the context of sports ministry.
- Explain what it means to be a “guest in the clubhouse” and how you should conduct yourself in light of this concept.
- Understand the complexity of the diverse populations you may serve as a sports minister and how to more effectively engage with them.
- Communicate your message more effectively by considering the unique needs of your audience depending on the level and ways in which they are engaged in sport.

This course was specifically helpful for anyone who is in the sports industry and wants to make a gospel impact, definitely recommend.

My overall experience with the introduction to sports ministry course was positive because it likely provided valuable insights into how to effectively engage athletes, coaches, and sports fans with Christian ministry. The course offered practical strategies for understanding the unique challenges and mindsets within the sports world, and how to communicate faith in a way that resonates with different groups. I appreciated the emphasis on building relationships, finding common ground, and approaching ministry in a culturally sensitive and relevant way. The lessons from figures like Colin Pinkney, Jeff Totten, Marc Porpilia, and Roger Lipe likely deepened my understanding of sports ministry and provided useful tools for future outreach.

This course was more than helpful in lectures, information, instruction, and purpose.
-
I never, until I signed up for the course, realized that there was a specificity to how Sports Ministry should be carried out; especially with those of the so-called Professional ranks.
-
I found this course informative, interesting and should be required by all who work with athletes.
-
I loved everything about this and am blessed to be able to learn in this capacity.
-
Perhaps as more folks gain their certification, it would be beneficial to share experiences, lessons learned.. feedback on how these courses guided or changed their philosophy in ministry.
-
I thought it was great that the course had 5 different speakers from different sports and different backgrounds, as opposed to one person lecturing on each sub-topic. Loved hearing from different voices and different points of views.

So helpful to me as I desire to grow as a chaplain for an NWSL team. Thank you so much for the biblical knowledge that was shared and for wisdom through experience!
