Christian Learning Center Forums What difference would it make if people became more aware of how much they continually exercise faith in daily living? The video presentation suggested that people tend to make gods in their own image. What is the significance of this?

It could broaden their idea of what faith is and normalize it for them, that could lead to someone realizing it is not so taboo to have faith in something. We all worship something, and we often become fools to where we worship the creation instead of the creator.

What makes us happy and feel good is what we believe is true. Therefore, if God is a good god, then He must look like and approve of the things we like and believe in. In order to cope with day to day life, we put our faith in the things that we believe to be true and then make God into a god who affirms these beliefs.

If people truly understood how much faith they have in everyday life (even in everyday objects), it would upend their belief systems. Believing in a world of “absolutes” takes more faith than the world created by God every does. The significance of having faith the chair you sit in will not break, the faith you have in your food not to be contaminated even though it’s been through many hands, is that if you put your faith so easily into those daily tasks, how much greater is it to believe in God? And truly, how much easier is it then to believe in God when He is a logical answer to so many unanswered questions.

People that do not know God search for a god that is familiar to their lifestyle. It will be less change if similarities are the same.

iT WOULD MAKE LITTLE TO NO DIFFERENCE. FAITH IS CONFUSED WITH KNOWLEDGE OR TAKING FORGRANTED CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES /SITUATIONS. DAILY ACTIVITIES ARE DONE NOT IN A RELIGIOUS FRAME OF MIND BUT AS AN EXPECTATION.

Christian Learning Center Forums Why do those who are anti-religious seem to be unaware of their own exercise of faith? What rationalizations might secular people use to defend their views?

Anti-religious individuals seem to be unaware of their own exercise of faith because it looks different that it would through a Christian lens. For example, the video says that even atheists believe that there is no real meaning to life, therefore we should create our own meaning. This then shows that they do have faith in something, it is in themselves.
I have always thought that the idea proposed by secular people, “What do I risk loosing if I am wrong in my faith?” spurs interesting conversation when discussing views with non-believers.

They are blinded to what faith really is. They are basing everything on feelings and unable to answer how things could be bad if there is a good God, so they make their own version of good.

These people are unaware of their own exercise of faith because it is done so often that they forget that they have faith in their daily lives. If they do not recognize that they have faith in everyday things, then they have an excuse not to have faith in God. After all, they have faith in nothing.

Anti-religious people have faith that there is no God in it, because they can’t prove the existence of God and non-existence of God through the things they do everyday, always do many things require faith in it but they don’t know due to the hardness of their hearts.
