If my foundation (bottom of hamburger bun) is the Word of God, and it holds my curricular choices, followed by another top “bun” of the Word of God, the meat of my courses will all be encapsulated in the Truth. This is what students need most. Truth… and my God is the Author of that. 🙂

Dr. Black’s visual of a book in the middle of two Bibles illustrates that a Biblical worldview and Christian education MUST start and end with God’s Word.
-
Curriculum is important, but the Bible needs to be the beginning and the end and all interspersed in between.
-
Dr. Black’s visual of a book in the middle of two Bibles is the curriculum and materials that we are using to teach our students. However, we need to start and end with the Word of God.

I increasingly recognize how little I have read, how little I actually know about my content area. The world is changing rapidly, and I cannot remain in ignorance if I want to be able to connect with modern students. This keeps me reading, listening, and learning.

I have started to keep a small notebook with me all the time to write down books to explore or Bible verse to read. I also have found if I don’t do the research right away, I don’t do it. I will even stop in the middle of a lesson with a class if a question has been asked to research with the students. I think it shows the students that I’m still wanting to learn.
-
One technique I use to encourage a growth mindset in myself is viewing challenges as opportunities to learn rather than signs of failure. I also try to reflect regularly on what God is teaching me through both successes and struggles, reminding myself that growth is part of His plan and process for my life.

Always challenge myself to not be satisfied. Remind myself that I am never perfect and that I should always strive to better myself.

I’m familiar with Dweck’s book on Mindset, which was required reading at my secular university during graduate studies, so I’m looking forward to seeing how this course broadens her writings to further include biblical content.

To better integrate the Bible and our Lord’s teachings into my curriculum, and get the certificate at the end!

I hope to learn how to integrate biblical principles into curriculum design, teaching methods, and classroom management.
-
I hope to gain a deeper understanding of how to integrate a biblical worldview more intentionally into my teaching. I also want to grow in confidence as a Christian educator, better equipped to disciple students and shape both their hearts and minds for Christ.
-
I want to find some nuggets of practical truth that I can use to better integrate my classroom.
