The orgin of the English Puritans was thought to explain the rise of scientific thought in the religous inquiry freely. Many aspects of Protestanism encourage the hierarchical views of the universe. The glory of God, and the good of mankind should be studied systematically as Puritans and other Protestants believed. In fact the Royal Society was open to men of every denomination. The Pilgrims were protestants who migrated to New England. The Puritans also thought they were to purify the church beyond government reforms.
