Learning the various religions will help me better understand and communicate with persons of different beliefs in general conversations and in times of spiritual support and or assistance.
-
It will enable me to better understand the religious and spiritual beliefs of other cultures, and in so doing I should be able to empathize with religious non-Christians. I also believe that these studies will facilitate opportunities to share the Good News of the Gospel with people of different faith traditions.
-
It will help me learn to better understand and respect other peoples religions, faiths, and customs.
-
Many people find evangelism to be a turn off because if someone is evangelizing them and don’t even know what they believe then it can come off as condescending

Religion is the sixth sense that we all have. The sixth sense represents all that we cannot see, touch, feel, smell, or taste. Yet we all have, in differing degrees, a feeling that there is more to us than this physical world we inhabit. Religion is a means of trying to respond to these universal questions. It also presents a behavior system that ultimately promotes the welfare of that group of believers.

Write out in your own words a definition for religious faith.
I have been taught that “Christianity is God reaching out to us while religion is us trying to reach god.”
As a nurse I know how to look at the Mental, Physical and Spiritual side of everything because it is all important to our health and welfare. According to the dictionary:
“Religion is belief in a god or gods and the activities that are connected with this belief, such as praying or worshipping in a building such as a church or temple.”
“A religion is a particular system of belief in a god or gods and the activities that are connected with this system.”
For myself, all of the descriptions and definitions seem too stilted because I have assisted with so many healing rituals in many faiths because as a nurse I know that, yes, religion is vital to life. I just know that being a follower of the Christ fills the God-shaped hole in my heart just right. I believe Jesus the Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. However, I will continue, as I have told people here, “I will talk to anyone, anytime about anything”…and I do.
