Monotheism: CS Lewis, written many books about Christianity
Deism: Abraham Lincoln
Naturalism: Neil DeGrasse Tyson – famous astrophysicist, doesn’t believe in a creator
Nihilism: My buddy, who doesn’t believe in God or that there’s any meaning to life
Existentialism: Much of America today, stating that you have the right to your own opinions and that there is no objective truth.
Pantheism: My old assistant coach who believes that he is becoming one with nature and talks about New Age stuff

Monotheism- the Chosen
Deism- Thomas Jefferson
Pantheism- yoga (possibly existentialism too)
Naturalism- big bang theory
Nihilism- “you do you” and “finding yourself” mentality
Existentialism- a neighbor with buddhist background
-
Monotheism- the Bible
Deism- The Age of Reason
Naturalism- biology textbooks
Nihilism- Nietzche
Existentialism-Samuel Beckett’s play Waiting for Godot
Pantheism- the force in Star Wars

Deism – It seams to me a lot of people in America believe in some God that really doesn’t play a big part in their life. He seems distant to them.
Monotheism – A Peculiar Glory is one of my favorite books and describes God, Jesus, and the Spirit acting holding us and keeping us in the faith instead of us holding to the faith.
Pantheism- I had a buddy name Jai that thought we could be one with the earth and reality.
Existentialism- Atheists and people that believe their is no real meaning to life
Nihilism- I believe many in the progressive movement in America really don’t believe there is a moral authority that they should bow down to. It is more their feelings that have the authority over them.
Naturalism- Many teachers in our schools teach that we came from random chance and matter evolving into more complex life forms and ultimately into human life.

Here are some examples that I have thought of:
Monotheism: Duck Dynasty. Their Christian faith is very prevalent.
Deism: Many scientists from the Enlightenment Era that believed that there was a Creator, but that he set the world in place and left it alone. They sought out to discover it.
Naturalism: This is the worldview portrayed in many scientific textbooks today.
Existentialism: The phrase “You do you” which is popular today. It implies that only you know what is right for you, and you set the moral code and meaning for your own life and actions.
Pantheism: This is a random example, but I remember watching a movie “Brother Bear” with my younger brother growing up, which portrayed Native American Shamanism, which is an expression of pantheism.
Nihilism: When I was in high school, the phrase YOLO (You Only Live Once) was popular. The implication was that your actions don’t matter so just go do something crazy.

Monotheism & Deism are most alike because they both believe in one God.
Naturalism & Pantheism are most dissimilar because…naturalism believes matter is all that exists & pantheism believes that everything that exists is God (Spirit). Matter is an illusion.
-
Monotheism and pantheism are the most similar because they both believe in one God, just different aspects of God
And monotheism and nihilism are the most dissimilar because one believes in God while the other does not -
I think monotheism and pantheism are similar because they both see God as Spirit and in meditation even though their mediations may differ. The two that are dissimilar are deism and naturalism in that deists believe in a Creator God, while naturalists believe in random chance.
-
Most alike: Monotheism and Deism they both believe in the creator (God).
Most dissimilar: Monotheism and Nihilism; One is believing in a higher power with authority…When the other is based on nothingness and worthlesness.
-
Monotheism and Deism are most similar as they acknowledge one God and creator of the world. Monotheism and Nihilism seem to be most dissimilar as one believes in God and the other believes in no objective truth.
