Lesson Summary
Congratulations! You’ve reached the end of Lesson 1: A Biblical Overview of Leadership
Let’s recap
During this lesson we learned how ministry leaders are divinely called and affirmed into leadership. We examined how Old Testament leaders had covenantal relationships with God to fulfill particular purposes in specific communities and times. From these accounts of leadership, and the example of Jesus in the New Testament, we learned what the nature and heart of a ministry leader should be like, and how this is often the opposite of the secular conceptualization of leadership.
In this lesson, you learned how to:
- Deduce Bible-based principles of leadership from biblical teaching and examples of servant-hearted leadership.
- Reflect on the differentiation between the requirements of biblical leaders versus a secular understanding of leadership.
- Clarify your motivations for wanting to lead a ministry.
Now, continue on to Lesson 2: Biblical Models of Leadership. Here, you will learn more about biblical models of leadership that have been articulated by various theologians and Bible scholars to help leaders apply the principles of leadership that are evident in the Bible.
