that it was actually given in a formulitic way so as to lead followers down a well laid path

The entire breakdown of the Sermon on the Mount was not something I had previously heard when learning more about the Beatitudes. It is all very well organized when showed this way.

I learned that Matthew has a very different, yet strategic organization to it. I didn’t realize that in my readings of the gospels in the past. The book of Matthew really shows us a lot of Jesus’ teachings as he moved from place to place. I think that if we want to know what God wants us to do, and the way he wants us to live…the book of Matthew could be a very good start!

I’m not sure I learned anything new, but love re-reading through it again and again. We forget things that aren’t consistently brought back to mind, so it’s always good to review it all again.

I never realized the detailed layout of the Book of Matthew. Matthew included 5 sermons that “mimicked” Moses 5 books.
