Colossians and Philemon

Having just read the passages from Colossians and Philemon, perhaps you noticed that the two letters feature many of the same names: Epaphras, Onesimus, Mark, Aristarchus, Luke, Demas and Archippus.

This suggests Philemon lived in Colossae and may have been a member of the Colossian church. The fact that both letters are addressed to Archippus makes this even more likely. With this being the case, we might read Colossians as a background for this shorter more personal letter.
