This word “better” appears no less than thirteen times in Hebrews and is applied in many different contexts. The eternal situation of believers has improved once for all through Christ, who is Himself “better” than anything we’ve seen before. Read the following verses and identify what the term “better” (alternatively translated as “superior”) is used to describe in each passage.

While some of the passages make it a bit tricky to discern what exactly is better, here’s a list of the “betters”:

  • The Son (1:4)
  • The salvation (6:9)
  • The hope (7:18-19)
  • The covenant (7:22)

  • The possessions (10:34)
