Things have not changed much. We still rebel against God today. I still don’t get it right all the time either. It shows us who God is and his love for us. That he wants to be in a relationship with us even when we don’t get it right. It also shows that we need a savior.

We are still a rebellious people today that need the Redeemer to save us from our sin. It might seem easy to separate ourselves from the OT, but really we behave like the Israelites did putting other things / people / idols before God, repeating poor behavior and choosing to sin. We need God’s forgiveness just as they did in the OT. The difference for us now is that we understand the law cannot save us, only Jesus can.

God wants us to thrive and continue to have a strong relationship with Him. He knows we are fallen, but still offers us forgiveness. We, as a people, are supposed to learn from Him and share with others our truth.

It shows that God loves us although we are sinful people, He hasn’t given up His people and saved them again and again and corrected their pathway. He chose people to reveal His word and His plan for His people, and that is what the Bible has recorded.
