The issue of Pharaoh’s heart-hardening has been the subject of theological debate for generations. What we hope you take away from this brief presentation are two facts: God hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and Pharaoh hardened his own heart. This is a mysterious collaboration. However we make sense of this account, it is clear that God takes responsibility for initiating this process, but Pharaoh is judged for his increased resistance.
