Well, how did you fare in this lesson on war and liberation? There is a lot of gospel in this book of Exodus—not just in the Passover but in the defeat of the rulers of this age. Yes, warfare on the sources of evil is part of the gospel.

We’ll be on our way next to Mount Sinai and an extraordinary covenant between God and His people. The Passover freed the Hebrews to make this commitment. But some important events are on the itinerary before they can stand at the foot of the holy mountain. God is going to make His covenant proposal only after He has proven to His people that He is the only sovereign worth their loyalty—a God who could rescue and provide and redeem.
