We’ve taken it for granted that the eighth century prophet Isaiah was responsible for the book we’ve been studying. Many scholars think that the different sections of the book represent more than one author. Although this may seem like a strictly academic debate, it’s really useful for us to look at the whole book one more time to see what holds it together. And that will help answer the question of how many “Isaiahs” there might have been.
