Although the topic of authorship may be uninteresting to some, it can open up a view on dynamics in a book. It reminds us that authorship was understood differently in the ancient world. It also reminds us that our presuppositions about how God might have inspired someone can influence our interpretation.

With this final lesson on Isaiah, what moved you most? Was it an invitation into the flaming presence of the “Holy One of Israel” . . . to know that He alone is God? Was it the personal images of God as farmer, shepherd, potter and father?

You’ll definitely want to return to this book for more. But for now, we’ll head over to Micah, one of Isaiah’s lesser known contemporaries. You just might recognize a familiar heartbeat in him.
