Not only will YHWH prevent Edom from taking Jacob’s inheritance, He’s going to dispossess Edom of their inheritance because of the betrayal. He’s saying, in effect, “Despite your efforts, Jacob is going to keep his inheritance, and I’m going to give him your mountain inheritance too. Mount Esau now belongs to Jacob.” 

In the end, the eagle that nested safely in the clefts, “gloating” over the misfortune of his brother, is thrown down and crushed.
