Because the Old Testament canon is a compilation of texts from different eras and authors, it’s easy to assume that when they were formally grouped into a single collection, they were harmonized and adjusted to agree with one another in all their details. In fact, the oldest surviving manuscripts of the Old Testament show remarkably few changes. The changes we do find from earlier to later copies are very minor and do not affect the fundamental meaning of the text.
