At this point we’ve gotten to know some minor prophets and one major prophet. We’ve seen the northern kingdom devastated by the Assyrians, and we’re about to see the southern kingdom fall to the Babylonians. While all of this is making the news outside, God is calling His people inside to repent of idolatry, immorality, injustice and any attempt at insurance. He’s also calling all nations to account.

This is a good place to stop and ask what we’re learning about prophecy. What are we noticing about the messages? How do they take into account the present and the future? And how distant is the future they predict?

The big question we’re really asking is, “How do we interpret prophecy?”

We’ll return to the final days of Jerusalem in the next module but not until we get a better handle on these questions.
