Here is a prophecy from Amos 9:11-12 ESV:
“In that day I will raise up
the booth of David that is fallen
and repair its breaches,
and raise up its ruins
and rebuild it as in the days of old,
that they may possess the remnant of Edom
and all the nations who are called by my name,”
declares the LORD who does this.
In the New Testament, James quotes this passage. Read Acts 15:14-19 below and then answer the following question.
- Describe why you think James is quoting this Amos passage. In what sense is this prophecy of Amos informing the early church leaders to better understand or evaluate the events that Barnabas and Paul have related?
