In this lesson, we will answer the question, what is the Bible?, by looking at structure, characteristics, and modern views of the Bible. We will also examine our call to be able and ready to defend it.

Lesson Objectives

When you complete this lesson, you should be able to do the following:

  • Describe the general structure, key features, and characteristics of the Bible.
  • Explain how the Bible is a grand narrative and provide the general timeline covered by the Bible.
  • Explain what makes the Bible unique.
  • Gain a basic understanding of beliefs held about the Bible among US adults.
  • Describe the role of apologetics in the believer’s life.
