Lesson Overview
This lesson explores various approaches throughout history to the interpretation of the Sermon on the Mount. Discover major teachings and beliefs and how they have evolved throughout the history of the church. At the end of this lesson, you should be able to explain how these interpretations will impact your study of the Beatitudes.
Lesson Objectives
When you complete this lesson, you should be able to:
- Describe major approaches throughout history to the interpretation of the Sermon on the Mount, including who the teachings apply to, what they tell us about God’s kingdom, the meaning of the word blessed, and how the Beatitudes can be divided.
- Explain Dr. Blomberg’s opinion on each of these approaches and why he holds his views.
