Lesson One shows us that the Old and New Testaments complement one another and provides an overview of the New Testament books. The lesson is designed to construct the New Testament’s big picture so we can more fully understand how each of its books contributes to its purpose.

When you complete this lesson, you should be able to do the following:
- Explain what the New Testament is.
- Name the central focus of the New Testament.
- Explain what Jesus intended us to understand about Himself.
- Describe your own response to Jesus’s offer of eternal and abundant life.

The New Testament is the story of Jesus and the salvation He offers us. Why is this significant?
