If you take what you know of Romans so far and then think about this as a letter, how might that change how you understand it? What if the letter has lots to do with the difference between Jews and gentiles—Jews and gentiles when it comes to their accountability before God . . . Jews and gentiles when it comes to their place in the plan of God? 

Reading the letter of Romans can certainly help put things in perspective. The occasion for this letter may even help us have more appreciation for how Paul digs into universal theological principles and applies them to the tensions among first century Romans.
