Rome turned out to be a relevant way to think about contemporary societies, didn’t it? We have all different ways to express narcissism, hedonism, pluralism, spirituality and a variety of idolatries. Even practical topics like paying taxes and patriotism get Paul’s careful attention.

We’ve learned that Romans is just as practical as it is theoretical and theological. For our final lesson in this module, let’s find our way back to this prolific author to look at his personal context during this turbulent time in the Roman Empire.
