Wrap-Up

John promises security to believers. The kind of eternal security we all long for. But he doesn’t hand it out to everyone, does he? It’s worth paying attention to how he defines the true children of God first. 

This sounds a lot like Hebrews and James. Books that want believers to experience assurance but not at the expense of serious introspection. Now let’s turn our attention to the two shorter epistles of John and see where they take us.
