We’ve learned that Hosea was role-playing for Israel. He used dramatic metaphors to get his message across. This book reminds us that God deeply desires a relationship with His people and communicates in the most creative and effective ways possible. He was trying to move their emotions to change behavior.

What’s coming next is another prophet who had to be more involved in his message than he wanted to be. And it will only underscore that the message of a prophet is also a message for the prophet.
