Have you ever heard someone say, “Show me some respect!” Well, you probably didn’t expect that kind of response from God! Once you understand His disappointments with the temple building and its leadership, you might appreciate the sentiment.

We are early-on in the period of the restoration. Returning exiles were living in an age of miraculous return and renewal—but they had to do their part in rebuilding the temple.
