Overview and Objectives
Lesson Overview
Let’s dig deeper into what it actually looks like to be in the midst of various kinds of tests of faith! In this lesson, Dr. Wilkinson gives you a vocabulary for talking about tests of faith in a way that will help you better understand what different tests might look like. You will also explore how people like Abraham, Moses, and Job experienced the same patterns and how they responded to them. Discover why the benefit of enduring tests of faith so greatly outweighs the cost!
Lesson Objectives
When you complete this lesson, you should be able to:
- Identify the characteristics and variables of tests of faith.
- Provide a biblical explanation for the cost-to-benefit comparison of tests of faith.
- Explain why the cost-to-benefit comparison should change your perspective when you encounter a test of faith.
- Name and describe the five patterns that tests of faith follow.
- Understand the danger in having incorrect expectations and assumptions of God.
Personal Reflection
As you proceed through this lesson have the following question in mind.
Prior to this lesson, what has been your feeling about the cost of trials compared to the benefit you receive from them? Has experiencing trials felt “worth it” to you?
