Chances are, you haven’t read the Bible looking for formal poetic features like parallelism and chiasm. But, the Bible has lots of these features, and we’ve all been exposed to them informally. Now, with this new lens, you’re more informed. You can recognize that, just like music, poetic structure carries and reinforces the meaning of the words. We’ll look more at various types of psalms in the next lesson. When we do, we’ll find that the packaging is a big part of their meaning.
