As we learned in an earlier lesson, some psalms include brief historical notes for context, as Psalm 3 does with its reference to David’s flight from Absalom. These “headlines” (technically called “superscriptions”) reference episodes in David’s life that appear in 1 and 2 Samuel. With those books fresh in your memory, the next page has an exercise for you to link references in 1 and 2 Samuel with some of these psalm notes.
