We all know Jesus spoke in parables, but how would you define a parable? What makes a very brief story a parable? Is it a religious theme, the unexpected ending, the type of comparison?

We’re entering a world of sayings, riddles and parables that was in place for centuries before Christ. The Old Testament has parables. Other Jewish rabbis told parables. The bigger questions will revolve around why Jesus told so many and what they were meant to accomplish. Beware … parables are a bit of a trap, and you never know when you might get caught by one!
