Why do you think Paul uses this image of a “thief in the night”? It’s a striking image and one with connotations of fear. 

  1. Why might Paul and his audience find comfort in this typically troubling image?

Believers are “sons of light.” Saying the end times will come like a “thief in the night” is another way of saying this is something believers don’t have to worry about. Only those in the dark, or children of darkness, have to worry about thieves in the night, as we’ll continue to discuss in the next video.
