We’ve already covered quite a lot of ground. We’ve been on the move pretty much since we left the Garden of Eden. But now all the travel is going to stop at Mount Sinai; we’re going to listen to the voice of God.

Be warned: the presence of God is no easy thing. As Moses discovered earlier, and Israel will discover now, it’s both frightening and yet profoundly inviting to enter into the presence of the living God. You cannot enter His presence without feeling a righteous awe—and you cannot leave His presence without being changed.
