This exercise will prompt you to think about formal relationships in your life. Here’s a list of a few that might come to mind: student-teacher, employee-employer or patient-physician.

1. List as many relationships as you can think of that have formalities associated with them. Try to list at least five. After each relationship, briefly identify the typical formalities practiced. Finally, note if there are provisions for dissolving the relationship.
