It’s common for Christians to assume that Israel’s Savior was a suffering Messiah. But what was it in the Old Testament that really prepared God’s people to expect that? There are some important passages in the Hebrew Scriptures that deserve some attention so that we can fully appreciate how they were all “fulfilled.” As we turn to these passages, we’ll uncover two plots that run throughout the Bible and actually make sense of the suffering not only in the life of Jesus, but in our lives as well.
