Many Psalms are quoted or referenced in the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ passion. Many of these highlight the suffering servant and the injustice of that suffering.

  1. Fill in the references from Matthew 27 that correspond to the lament psalms listed on the left.
PsalmsNew Testament
They divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. (Psalm 22:18)
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? (Psalm 22:1)
Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O LORD, faithful God. (Psalm 31:5)
More in number than the hairs of my head are those who hate me without cause. (Psalm 69:4)
