Somehow it seems like we are too familiar with our next topic and not familiar enough at all. It’s about sacrifice. We sing a lot about the blood of the lamb in our worship, but most of us have never seen a ritual slaughter. Jesus died on Passover as our substitutionary sacrifice. Our objective is to make sure we fully understand the biblical and ritual background so we fully appreciate all that God did to initiate the New Covenant. We want to be aware of every nuance of meaning, whether we are celebrating the Lord’s Supper or the Last Supper.
