By now we should be used to the idea that the Gospels—The Gospel—is good news “first to the Jews, and then the Gentiles.” If you are a Gentile, does that feel somehow second-rate or second place? Actually, we’ve been watching God’s focus on a chosen line express itself in the context of His interest in all people since the beginning of the Bible. It’s good to get back to that moment when all Gentiles understood that their faith was delivered first to the Jewish community. The Gospels remind us of the moment when the Good News was just beginning to go global. That’s what made it possible for us to be adopted into the covenant family.
