One of the best reasons to compare the Gospels is to see what each one emphasizes and to get to know the writer as an author and theologian. Matthew was a tax collector. How might that have shaped his view on Jesus’ ministry? Matthew is the only Gospel writer who refers to the “Church.” What might that say about his audience? 

We learned a lot about Mark when we followed the clues about him. Let’s do the same for Matthew.
