In the New Testament Field Guide, we introduced you to different kinds of Jewish literature. Among them were the oral laws of the Mishnah and Talmud. The oral laws accumulated over the centuries and were considered by many to be as authoritative as Moses’ written laws. They were eventually written down in the second century AD. Another important term for these rules is Takkanot. Let’s explore them now.
